Joseph R. Kapurch, M.D. joined Metropolitan Neurosurgery in 2019. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, specializing in minimally invasive techniques and complex spine disease, brain tumors, and neurotrauma.
Dr. Kapurch’s undergraduate studies were at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia in biochemistry/molecular biology and religion. He was a member of the varsity swim team, earning Academic All-American status. After college, he attended the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated as a Dean’s Merit Scholar. He then chose the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for his residency training in Neurological Surgery where he also completed a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine. While originally from Northern Virginia, Dr. Kapurch has fully embraced the Midwestern lifestyle – enjoying fishing, skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities. His wife is an anesthesiologist in the Minneapolis area, and they have a wonderful golden retriever, Penny.
Dr. Kapurch is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is accepting new patients and is on the medical staff at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and Unity Hospital.
